For so many women over 40, weight loss feels like an uphill battle. You’re doing the things that used to work, you’re cutting calories, running on the treadmill, trying every new diet you see on Instagram… and nothing seems to change. You’re hoping for that mindset shift to finally achieve your goals, but it just doesn’t seem to happen.

Your clothes don’t fit right. You dread trying on outfits. And that beach holiday you booked months ago? Instead of excitement, all you feel is anxiety.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. But here’s the good news—it doesn’t have to be this way.

Today, we want to share Nicki’s story with you. She’s one of the many women who’ve transformed their body and their life through our Fit Over 40 programme—and it all started with one thing: a mindset shift. At 46 years old Nicki was able to go from 21 stone 9 lbs to 18 stone 13 lbs and fit back into clothes she’d not worn in years.

Nicki’s Background Before Trinity

Before starting her journey with Trinity, Nicki found herself at her heaviest weight—21 stone and 9 lbs (137.5 kg). She wore a size 22–24, didn’t do any regular exercise, and often turned to food for comfort.

Day-to-day life was a struggle. Walking up stairs left her breathless. Being on her feet for too long was exhausting. The most painful moment came during a holiday, when she entered a café and realised she couldn’t fit in the chairs.

She ended up sitting on the edge of the seat to eat her lunch, feeling embarrassed and defeated.

“The most embarrassing was going on holiday and into a cafe and I couldn’t fit in the chairs…I ate my lunch sat on the very edge of the seat. I just felt low, unattractive and out of breath most of the time.”

Nicki’s weight was more than a number—it was holding her back from enjoying life. Like many women, she had tried different diets before, but nothing seemed to work long term. She knew something had to change.

Nicki’s Incredible Results

After just 16 weeks in the Fit Over 40 programme, Nicki experienced a dramatic transformation. She lost 2 stone and 10 lbs (17.5 kg), dropped over a dress size, and lost 9 cm from her waist and 12 cm from her hips.

Clothes that hadn’t fit in years were now back in rotation. She started to enjoy movement again and found herself lifting heavier weights with ease. But it wasn’t just about physical change.

Nicki had struggled with emotional eating for years. Food was her way of celebrating, coping, and filling time. But through her journey with Trinity, she stopped binging, started planning her meals, and began investing time in herself.

She didn’t cut out all the foods she loved, but she learned how to make better choices that made her feel proud rather than guilty.

She even found herself enjoying days out that previously would’ve left her winded. On one trip, she managed to walk all day, including uphill climbs she used to avoid or struggle through. That feeling of progress—of reclaiming her life and mobility—motivated her to keep going.

Why Mindset Matters With Weight Loss

Nicki’s story is powerful not just because of the weight she lost, but because of the shift that happened in her mindset. This is the part most people overlook when trying to change their health and fitness—especially during menopause. One of the most important, yet often misunderstood, aspects of improving your wellbeing during this phase of life is adopting a growth mindset.

So, what exactly is a mindset shift—and why is it so essential?

In our coaching, we talk alot about two types of mindsets: A growth mindset and a fixed mindset.

A growth mindset is the belief that no matter how hard things feel right now, change is possible. It’s understanding that while menopause comes with real challenges—like weight gain, fatigue, and mood swings—you’re not stuck.

There are always steps you can take to improve how you feel, look, and move through life.

On the flip side, a fixed mindset tells you that things can’t change. That your body is too far gone. That weight gain is just a part of getting older and you have to accept it. It’s a way of thinking that keeps you feeling stuck, helpless, and frustrated.

Shifting your mindset doesn’t mean pretending things are fine when they’re not. It means being realistic about your struggles, but also being hopeful and proactive about what you can do to improve your situation.

Nicki didn’t just change her diet—she changed how she thought about herself, her health, and what was possible for her life. And that mindset shift opened the door for everything else to follow.

Why a Coach is the Best Investment You Can Make

One of the biggest reasons Nicki was able to make this shift—and stick to it—was because she wasn’t doing it alone. She had a coach. Someone who checked in, offered support, and helped her stay accountable. And more than that, she had a community of women just like her, all working through the same challenges.

That support system is a game-changer. In our Fit Over 40 programme, we create an environment where women feel safe to open up—not just about weight, but about everything that’s going on in their lives. And studies suggest support groups of like-minded women positively impact health-changes and the ability to stick to a weight loss plan.

“The support from my coach made me see things differently. I was not alone and plenty of other women had already seen a positive difference. Trinity offered something different to other diets I had tried.”

Some of our clients have shared personal struggles they’ve never told anyone else: dealing with teenagers leaving home, feeling disconnected from their partners, or managing life with an alcoholic spouse.

Take Rachel, for example. A few years ago, she attended one of our events and shared—publicly, for the first time—that her husband struggled with alcoholism. With the support of her coach and the community, she made some big, life-changing decisions. She lost weight. She felt stronger, mentally and physically. And most importantly, she started living for her again.

This kind of support doesn’t just help you lose weight—it helps you heal, grow, and rediscover who you are outside of being a mum, a partner, or a career woman. When you have people cheering you on, holding you accountable, and truly understanding your journey, everything becomes easier.

Making Better Food Choices That Actually Stick

Another huge shift for Nicki was how she approached food. Before Trinity, her eating habits were controlled by emotions—stress, boredom, celebration. Food was the centre of everything. Through the programme, she didn’t go on a strict diet. She didn’t cut out her favourite meals. Instead, she learned how to plan, make informed decisions, and stay consistent—even when life got tough.

“One of my biggest issues with weight was comfort eating…I celebrated with food, ate when I was bored…everything evolved around food. Since Trinity I’ve not given up everything and have eaten out numerous times but I’ve made better choices and they made me feel proud of myself.”

That’s the beauty of the Fit Over 40 approach. It’s not about perfection or restriction. It’s about consistency. It’s about small changes that stack up to big results. And it’s about learning how to eat in a way that supports your goals without feeling like punishment.

Nicki is proof that it works. She made better choices, even in difficult situations, and now has the confidence and knowledge to keep going for life.

“I recently spent 5 weeks in hospital with my daughter which I managed without overeating and although the workouts took a back seat the recording of food and making good choices stayed with me something which would never of happened before.”

You Can Do This Too
