Julie, who’s always flat out between her work as a social worker and a busy mum of four, joined Fit Over 40 at the heaviest she’d ever been. She was lethargic, unhealthy, embarrassed and unhappy. She was squeezing into size 14 elasticated waists and bursting out of size 16 tops. However, now everything’s changed – she’s the lightest she’s been in 35 years having lost over 2 stone, and she’s got all her favourite clothes back out the loft and is now slipping into them with ease!

How Julie Achieved These Results

Step 1 – The Diet Makeover

Over the first 2 weeks, we helped Julie reduce cravings for unhealthy foods and alcohol by eliminating problem food groups from her diet. This allowed her to start seeing results from day 1, which made it easy for her to stay motivated.

Step 2 – Low Impact Strength Training (LIST)

We gave Julie a workout programme to follow which consisted of 3 LIST sessions per week which she completed from home with basic equipment. LIST involves lifting weights in a slow and controlled way for fast and sustainable weight loss while toning up the body and improving strength.

Step 3 – Hormonally Balanced Eating

For women over 40, it’s important to avoid extreme dieting approaches as these can lead to increased levels or cortisol – the stress hormone. Julie followed a moderate approach which avoided restricting her food intake and food choices and worked with her changing hormones to deliver fast results.

Step 4 – Coaching and Accountability

To put all of this into action, Julie had the guidance of Trinity Coaching Team leader Dave Cooper, to make sure she was always on track and always seeing results. Julie’s journey was not plain sailing, but whenever she has challenges, her coach was on hand to solve those issues and avoid them derailing her progress.
